Since Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to be wed next year, I was curious about past wedding gowns worn by royalty.
England's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, 1947
Monaco's Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly, 1956
England's Prince Charles and Lady Diana, 1981
Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling, 2010

I love of the long trains!!
Princess Philipa of England was actually the first documented person to wear a white wedding gown in 1406. Before that, brides wore their best dress on their wedding day and wealthier brides could afford to purchase a dress just to wear on their special day. Blue, not white, was the symbol of purity. White did not become popular until England's Queen Victoria wore it on her wedding day in 1840.
