Valentine's Day is just around the corner! Looking for some last minute, wallet-friendly gift ideas for your loved one? Here are some suggestions!
1) Cook Dinner. It could be as easy at spaghetti and meatballs or as elaborate as hand-made ravioli. Cater it to your loved one's favourite foods. Bonus points for doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen afterwards as well.
2) Bake. Could be cookies or cupcakes! There are tons of great and simple recipes on Food Network Canada.
3) Rent a movie. Instead of spending $30 on a night out at the theatres, rent a movie, pop your own popcorn, and have a bowl of your favourite candy and pop. Also, snuggling is much easier at home!
4) Make a card. Instead of spending $5+ dollars at Hallmark, why not customize your message and include a cute drawing. Making and writing your own card (instead of just signing your name at the bottom) is much more thoughtful and personal!
5) Make a "mix tape". This might be really old school but compiling your favourite love songs (or "your" songs) on a CD is a great way to brighten his/her day. They could play it while driving to work.
6) Give each other a massage. It's intimate and relaxing for the both of you. Don't forget to pick up a bottle of scented massage oil!
7) Repeat your first date. I have a friend that had their first date at Burger King and since then, her fiance and her have spent every Valentine's at Burger King, reminiscing their first date. It's a nice reminder of how you fell in love.
8) Present them with a pack of customized "coupons" - each with a chore, kiss, favour you think they'd love!
9) Take them dancing! In Toronto, Ba ba luu is a supper club in Yorkville that has salsa nights that offer free dance lessons before the club gets busy!
10) Take them on a scavenger hunt. Write clues that take them around the city to places that have special meaning to the two of you. You could even present them with a small gift at various locations. End up at a special location and enjoy the rest of your date!
Have fun and Happy Valentine's Day!
